The Wakefield 300 Enduro was established in 2007 and is one of the “must do” events for club and state level motorsport competitors. Held every February the event attracts teams from all over NSW, and offers a test of cars, drivers and teams over a 300km endurance event.

After the events of 2020 and the impact on crowd gatherings at sporting events, organisers decided to live stream the Wakefield 300 for the first time, in an effort to bring this popular event to as many viewers as possible. Production of this 7-hour livestream was awarded to Krizmik Industries, who have long pedigree in live streaming and production for sport.

Michael Geddes, Managing Director of Krizmik Industries said: “The biggest challenge for this event was the limited connectivity off site. I had dealt with Chris Dredge from Pacific Live Media previously and knew he was the expert on remote connectivity and streaming, so I went to ask him what he could do”

Chris Dredge said: “Pacific Live Media is well known for its sales and rentals of remote production and live streaming technology. Along the way we have acquired lots of additional production equipment that compliments that business, including building some smaller fly away multi camera solutions for various events such as surfing. I had been thinking of formalising the rental business for some time, and building a mid-sized facility aimed servicing the increasing demand for live streamed, multi camera events.”

Focussed on the latest IP technology solutions for broadcast and streaming, Gameday Hire carries equipment rental solutions from brands including Newtek, Ross Video and Blackmagic design vision switchers, Sony, Panasonic, JVC and BirdDog (NDI) cameras, LiveU, Peplink and Clearcaster streaming and remote connectivity solutions, and a host of other kit.

Gameday Rentals flagship Outside Broadcast solution is a small trailer facility, which features an NDI and SDI video backbone, Dante Audio network with Unity Intercom, NewTek Tricaster or Ross Video vision switching and replay options, and LiveU 4/5G bonded cellular connectivity both inbound and outbound. Custom field hubs provide connectivity for cameras, comms, audio and data over robust OpticalCON single mode fibre, making deployment fast, versatile and reliable. The facility can handle easily handle 6-8 cameras, plus multiple NDI video sources, as well as on board graphics and replay, so is ideal for second and third tier sport, onsite or remote multi camera production for broadcast, web or events. We have a range of robust outbound streaming options to suit any level of production. Gameday also offer dry hire flyaway streaming kits, and associated equipment rental.

Chris Dredge said “The approach from Michael at Krizmik could not have been more timely. The Gameday OB trailer was already part built and its capabilities ticked all the boxes for this event, and then some”

Michael Geddes: “The Gameday OB trailer was the perfect solution for the Wakefield 300 live stream. It is really a smart, IP based solution. The Tricaster TC2 Elite was more than capable of handling all the switching, graphics and replay requirements of the stream. The LiveU and ClearCaster streaming path was rock solid over 7 hours. I was impressed at how quickly the team was able to roll out the 4 camera OB, and the Gameday team were great to work with.”
